Brenda S. (Mann) Shirley

Brenda Shirley, 75, of Jackson, passed away Monday, October 25, 2021, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Brenda was born July 24, 1946, in Stoddard County, Missouri, to Charles and Clodina Pruett Mann.  She and Johnnie Shirley were married March 20, 1964, in Stoddard County.  She was a 1964 graduate of Dexter High School.

Brenda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She never met a baby that she didn’t love, and was affectionately referred to as “grandma” by many children that weren’t even related to her.

Brenda worked many years as a real estate agent and later worked for Southwestern Bell.  In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping at flea markets.

Loving survivors include her husband of 57 years, Johnnie Shirley of Jackson; three children:  Todd Shirley and wife Tammy Proctor of Providence, Utah; Terry Shirley and wife Lori Mahala of Hendersonville, North Carolina; Lisa Hammond and husband Patrick of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Rachael and Jonathan Shirley, Isla, Sierra, and Linda Hammond; a brother, Jerry Mann of McClure, Illinois; a nephew, Scott (Connie) Mann of Jackson; and a niece, Michelle (Shawn) Hinkle and their daughter Kylie of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Mann.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Friday, October 29, 2021, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Gary Cooper will conduct a graveside service at 1:30 p.m., Friday, October 29, 2021, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Bell City.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
