Bruce L. Colyott, 73, of Jackson, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024, at his home. He was born November 1, 1950, in Hunter, Missouri, to Norman and Violet "Vi" Lawrence Colyott. Bruce was a 1969 graduate of Kennett High School in Kennett, Missouri. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1970 to 1972, during the Vietnam War. For many years, Bruce owned and operated LACO Insulation in Cape Girardeau. His interests included woodworking, fishing, and reading, and he was an avid fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. To cherish his memory, he leaves five children, Brandon Colyott of Las Vegas, Nevada, Breanna (Tyler) Nelson of Rose Hill, Kansas, Leah Colyott of Atlanta, Georgia, Jesse (Amanda) Casey of Ogden, Utah, Robert (Rhonda) Duty of Dongola, Illinois; grandchildren, Zane and Scarlett Nelson, Nicholas Colyott, Charlie Duty; two brothers, Michael (Debbie) Colyott of Fayetteville, Georgia and Kevin (Debbie) Colyott of Scott City, Missouri; nieces and nephews: Erin Daughhette, Jake, Kyle, Michael, Kristen, and Kelley Colyott, and Courteney King; former wife and companion, Tina Colyott of Dongola, Illinois; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Colyott, his brother, Steven Colyott, and his parents, Norman and Vi Colyott. Bruce was honored with private military rites at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
