Carl James Bollinger

Patton, Missouri

Carl James Bollinger, 86, of Patton, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the Monticello House in Jackson.

He was born October 31, 1938, in Fredericktown, Missouri, to Everett and Eula Nelson Bollinger.  Carl attended Patton / Sedgewickville Schools and graduated from Perryville High School.  He honorably served in the Missouri National Guard.

Carl and Shirley A. Drum were married on September 13, 1958.  Three sons were born to their union, Carson, Neal, and Eric.  Tragically, Shirley and Eric died in a fatal car accident January 3, 1969.

Carl and Janet Proffer were married September 5, 1970.  Two children were born to their union, Scott and Amy.

In 1959, Carl established Bollinger Poultry Company, in Patton, Missouri.  He was a lifelong member of Millersville Methodist Church and taught the young adult Sunday school class for many years.

Loving survivors include his wife of 54 years, Janet Bollinger of Patton; children, Carson (Shelly) Bollinger and Neal Bollinger of Sedgewickville, Scott (Saundra) Bollinger of Jackson, Amy (Karl) Schroeder of Houston, Texas; nine grandchildren:  Eric Bollinger, Chelsey Forister, Spencer and Cody Bollinger, Taylor Noe, Carlie and Bradyn Bollinger, Cooper and Avery Schroeder; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer (Pat) Bollinger of Patton; a sister-in-law, Donna (late Frank) Bollinger of Sedgewickville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley, and their son, Eric; siblings, Frank and Edwin (Iva) Bollinger, Katherine Bollinger, and his parents.

Visitation is from 2 to 5 PM, Sunday, April 6, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center, in Jackson, and from 10 AM to service time, Monday, April 7, 2025, at Millersville Methodist Church.

The Rev. Alex Niswonger will conduct the funeral service at 11 AM, Monday, April 7, at the church.  Interment will follow at the Bollinger Family Cemetery near Sedgewickville.

If considering a memorial contribution, the family suggests Millersville Methodist Church.
