Carl E. Stinson, 83, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born November 22, 1932, in Parma, Missouri, to Loren G. and Ethel V. Robertson Stinson. He and Joyce Calvert were married May 21, 1954, in Parma.
Carl attended school in Parma. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and then served as a sergeant in the 1140th Infantry Battalion of the Missouri National Guard in Jackson.
Carl was a mechanic by trade, first working at McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, and then many years at Proctor & Gamble in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1992. He and Joyce became members of First Baptist Church in Millersville in 1974 and Carl became an ordained deacon December 9, 2001. Beside his Lord, he loved nothing more than being with his family.
Loving survivors include his wife of nearly 62 years, Joyce of Jackson; six children, Michael (Sue) Stinson and Sharon Stinson of Jackson, David (Lillian) Stinson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Sandra Stinson of Jackson, Paul (Lea) Stinson of Melbourne, Florida and Daniel (Natalie) Stinson of Belleville, Illinois; eight grandchildren, April Stinson of Marble Hill, Shannon (Leann) Stinson of Jackson, Jenny Stinson of Venice Beach, California, Megan Stinson of Jackson, Madeleine and Jack Stinson of Belleville, Joshua and Jake Stinson of Melbourne; a sister, Shelby (Bill) Gullick of Keokuk, Iowa, and a brother, Ronnie (Shirley) Stinson of Festus, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Hershel and Wilmer Stinson; and a sister, Shirley Stinson.
Visitation will be Friday, May 13, 2016, from 4 to 8 p.m., at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be Saturday, May 14, 2016, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Nathan Eikenberry officiating.
Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with full military honors.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to the International or Home Missions Funds of First Baptist Church in Millersville.
