Carmen C. (Mainer) Hoffman

Carmen C. (Mainer) Hoffman died on October 20, 2021, in Jackson, Missouri, at the age of 93.

Carmen was born in McClure, Illinois, on February 6, 1928, to Leslie Elden and Flossie (Willie) Mainer. Carmen and Alvin Daniel “A.D.” Hoffman were married August 11, 1950.  They had been married 49 years when A. D. passed away November 19, 1999.

Carmen lived in McClure, Illinois; Palm Coast, Florida; Cape Girardeau and Jackson, Missouri. She spent many years as a hairdresser; volunteered at St. Francis Hospital; held various retail jobs; and with her husband, was co-owner of Wib’s Drive-In in Jackson, from 1972-1986.

Carmen attended the First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, First Baptist Church in Jackson, and Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. Carmen was well loved by her family and her community, and she never met a stranger.

Carmen is survived by two children, Judy Rodriguez (Arturo) of Palm Coast, Florida and Alvin Daniel “Dee” Hoffman II (Judy Jarrett) of Jackson; five grandchildren: Alan Rodriguez, Carmen Tuchman (David), Danielle McIntosh (Lucas), Emily Schwent (Daniel), and Graham Hoffman (Dava); three great-grandchildren: Moira McIntosh, Ingram McIntosh, and Austin Tuchman; and a brother, Jerry Mainer (Erla) of Granite City, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Kathryn Taylor and Maxine Hatler, and two brothers, Delbert “Pete” Mainer and Leslie Mainer.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 22, 2021, at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
