Carol Kay McCauley, age 88, of Jackson, passed away Monday, May 11, 2026, at the Villas of Jackson in Jackson.

She was born January 31, 1938, in Oak Ridge, Missouri, the daughter of Landree and Carlyn Reid Carron. She married Gary Edward McCauley on July 25, 1959, in Oak Ridge. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1996.

Kay was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School. She later attended Cape Business College in Cape Girardeau, where she received a certification. She then began a 26-year career at Procter & Gamble in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1997. Kay was a member of the Town and Country Homemakers Club in Oak Ridge and a faithful member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson. She was also a former member of the Oak Ridge Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Kay enjoyed taking rides in her car while listening to music; She loved reading and quilting. She especially cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and preparing meals for her family and friends. She was known as an exceptional cook.

Loving survivors include her two children, Pat (Susan) McCauley of Cantonment, Florida, and Lynne McCauley of Jackson; four grandchildren, Kirsten Dee, Adam (Sara) Meyer, Ryan McCauley, and Travis McCauley; six great-grandchildren, Hunter Borgfield, Grant Meyer, Caroline Dee, Adalynn Meyer, Audrey Dee, and Julia Dee; and two siblings, Reid (Becky) Carron of Ely, Minnesota, and Cathy (Paul) Hancock of Jackson; and many dear friends.

In addition to her husband, Kay was preceded in death by her parents and her in-laws, Carl and Reba McCauley.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jimmie Corbin and Bryan Wendling officiating. Burial will take place at Old Goshen Cemetery near Oak Ridge.

If considering a memorial contribution, the family suggests the Alzheimer’s Association or Old Goshen Cemetery.
