Carroll W. Rees, 82, of Jackson, left this earth to meet his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 15, 2016, with his family gathered around him.
He was born December 24, 1933, in Campbell, Missouri, to Elbert L. "Shorty" and Gracie A. Cossey Rees. He and Shelba Jean Ham were married October 11, 1952, in Pocahontas, Ark. They had been married 59 years when Shelba passed away October 20, 2011.
Carroll was a graduate of Glennonville High School in Glennonville, Missouri. After he and Shelba were married, they ran a saw mill near Qulin, Missouri. They moved to Jackson in the late 1950's. Carroll worked hard to support his family. He was employed briefly at the former International Shoe Factory in Jackson, then worked as a painter for Jackson R-2 Schools, Seabaugh Construction, and retired in the early 1990's.
Carroll and Shelba were charter members of the former Shepherd Baptist Church at Neelys Landing. He loved country music and was an avid outdoorsman. In his book, any day was productive as long as it included hunting or fishing.
Loving survivors include four children, Barbara (Jim) Palmer of Rolla, Missouri, Debbie (Tom) Sewing, Mark (Rita) Rees, and Sandy (Dwight) Eisenbeis, all of Jackson; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald (Juanita) Rees of Jackson.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a stillborn granddaughter; two brothers, Raymond and Bobby Rees; and a stillborn sister.
Friends may call Saturday, September 17, 2016, from 11:30 am to service time, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
