Cathy J. Myers Dement

Cathy J. Myers Dement, age 68, of Dexter, passed away Monday, September 29, 2025, at her home.

She was born January 7, 1957, in Cape Girardeau, to Edgar R. “Beck” and Marie Schmidt Myers.

She was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School and Southeast Missouri State University. She worked for Union Electric in Cape Girardeau, and 21 years as an office clerk in the district office of Ameren in Dexter, Missouri.

She considered Zion Methodist Church in Old Appleton to be her home church. Upon moving to Dexter, she attended the Lighthouse Church in Dexter.

She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. She enjoyed playing online games and crafting, especially Christmas decorations.

She is survived by her boyfriend, Rick Volz of Dexter; daughters, Amanda Arthur (Aaron Shepherd) of Dexter; Carla (Fred) Holt of Belleville, Illinois; and Barbara Ann Volz of St. Louis; a sister, Barbara (Bill) King of Oak Ridge; a sister-in-law, Rose (the late Jim) Myers of Rockview, Missouri; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jim Myers and Charles (Shirley) Myers.

Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to service time, Thursday, October 2, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Dr. Mike Cowan will conduct the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Old Goshen Cemetery near Oak Ridge.
