Charles Lee Mcintyre

Charles “Lee” McIntyre, 80, of St. Louis formerly of Jackson passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 29, 1942 in Jackson to the late Joseph and Ina Hahn McIntyre, He and Joan Koeneman were married May 29, 1971 in St. Louis.

Lee graduated from Doniphan High School in 1961 and started working for his father driving trucks.  In 1968 he enlisted in the U. S. Army and served until 1970.  Upon his honorable discharge Lee worked for a short time for Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis before beginning a 40 year career driving for Hostess/Wonder Bread retiring in 2008.  One of Lee’s most enjoyable activities aside from hunting was working on the farm in Glenallen.  His greatest love was for his wife, children and grandchildren, he spent as much time as possible with his family.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 52 years Joan, two sons, John (Jamie) McIntyre of Jackson, Patrick (Paula) McIntyre of Glenallen; a daughter Charlene (Clinton) North of Troy, IL; two brothers, Gary McIntyre of Keller, TX and Joe McIntyre of Petal, MS; two sisters, Alberta Noe of Vancouver, WA and Sandra (Ed) Schaffer of High Ridge, Missouri; three half-brothers Jimmy, David and Kevin Bohannon and a half-sister, Darlene Luflin.

Lee is also survived by his grandchildren, Andrew, Nicholas, Joshua, Charles Joseph “CJ” and John McIntyre Jr., Brianna Courtney, Caleb, Christian and Collin North, Jolene and Joan McIntyre, great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Haleigh, Daniel, Gracie and Benjamin;  two brother – in – laws Eddie Willis and Gerald Koeneman and two sister – in laws Helen McIntyre Copeland and Rayetta Koeneman.

Lee was preceded in death by a brother Hermon “Bud” McIntyre, three sisters, Kay Willis, Frieda (Paul) Dry and Goldie (Charlie) Dry; half-brothers Bobby, Gary, Paul and Jessie Bohannon, two half-sisters, Sherri Jackson and Linda Bohannon.

Visitation will be on Friday Jan 20, 2023 at St Joseph Catholic Church Apple Creek from 2 – 5 pm

Funeral Mass will be at 5 pm at the church with Fr. Jim French officiating.  Military Honors will follow the Mass.

Burial will take place at Russel Heights at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post #158 in Jackson or Pro Life Parteners Foundation.
