Charles Dewayne Terry

Charles Dewayne Terry, 85, of Oak Ridge formerly of Jackson passed away on Wednesday May 31, 2023 in Sedalia, Missouri. He was born January 6, 1938, in Union County, Illinois, son of Otis Earl and Hazel Marie Rumfelt Terry. He and Patsy Jean Hanners were married March 20, 1960 at First Baptist Church in Jackson. She passed away August 19, 2016. Charles served in the United States Army from July 13, 1954 until November 23, 1956. For a short time he owned and operated a gas station in Jackson. He later worked in accounting and bookkeeping. Charles enjoyed beekeeping, commercial fishing and building model tow boats. Loving survivors include two sisters, Barbara Mason of Cape Girardeau and Martha Heider of Carbondale and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Norman, Donald, Roy, George and Richard; two sisters Betty Louise Piper and Marion Earlene Moore and an infant brother Carrol Terry. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until service on Monday, June 5, 2023 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Joshua Schmidt officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery. The family suggests that contributions be made to church or charity of donor's choice
