Charles Gordon Younce Sr., age 78, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in Cape Girardeau, MO.
He was born on November 17, 1947, to Charles Richard and Genevieve Dailey Younce.
He was a graduate of Dahlgren High School and attended Automotive Collision Technician College focusing on auto body and collision repair.
On August 26, 1968, in Cherryville, MO he married the love of his life Darlene Mae Callahan Younce.
Charles was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a radio relay man and rose to the rank of Sargeant.
Before being drafted into the Army, Charles worked for McDonald Douglas Aircraft. When he returned home he was the collision body repairman for Cape GMC-Pontiac, the body shop manager for Ford Groves, Coad Chevrolet and lastly he retired from Kagmo Electrical.
He was of the Christian faith and was a member of LaCroix Church in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his three sons: Benny Younce of Jackson, MO, Charles Gordon Younce Jr. of Cape Girardeau, MO and Bobby and Mollie Younce of Jackson, MO; his six grandchildren: Brittany Younce, Khloe Younce, Hunter Younce, Landon Younce, Sawyer Younce, and Greer Younce.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Genevieve, his wife Darlene, daughter in law Kimberly, brother-in-laws David Cox and Richard Callahan, and a niece Christie Callahan Smith.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, MO.
The funeral service will take place on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home, 110 Cedar St. in Steelville, MO. 65565.
Interment will follow in the Mark Trask Cemetery in Cherryville, MO under the direction of Britton-Bennett Funeral Home, with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be Benny Younce, Charles Gordon Younce Jr., Bobby Younce, Hunter Younce, Landon Younce, and Kent Grayum.
