Chrester Charles Sanders

Chrester Charles Sanders died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at age 80, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was born Dec. 23, 1942, at Parma, Missouri, the son of Benjamin Thomas and Eva Mae Schumpert Sanders. He was one of six siblings and was the last to survive. He married Linda Kay Jenkins on May 20, 1964. They had four children, all boys. Charles was a vending machine master mechanic and supervisor for more than 30 years at Burch Food Services in Sikeston. He retired from Burch to enjoy time with his family. Charles was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman. He loved playing softball and basketball and fishing and camping. His family will forever cherish the countless happy memories of softball tournaments, road trips, fishing expeditions and campouts. Charles remained empathetic, kind and selfless despite enduring personal tragedy. He would have done anything in his power to help those he loved, and often did. He is survived by his wife, of Jackson. He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Ray Sanders, and two grandsons, Christopher Lee and Kyle Benjamin Sanders. Other survivors include his sons Donald Lee and Charles Albert Sanders of Jackson and Matthew Keith Sanders of Columbia, Missouri; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and longtime friends. Charles will be interred at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston, Missouri. Family members will gather for a private celebration of his life. Donations in his memory can be made to the Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation.
