Connie Sue Dowdy passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, at 4:30 P.M., surrounded by the family she loved so fiercely. In her final moments, she took flight to the melodies of her favorite artist, Ed Sheeran, leaving behind a legacy of boundless warmth and laughter.
Connie was a selfless and ferociously-loving mother, grandmother, and a true friend to everyone she met. She treated every stranger she met like a child of her own or a long-lost best friend. Those around her couldn’t help being drawn to the compassionate social butterfly she devoted herself to being.
As a skilled nurse, she dedicated her life to caring for others in all walks of life with deep empathy. At home and in her community, she was both a masterful chef and a natural comedian. Connie made it her personal mission to ensure that every single person she encountered had a reason to smile, a blessing to share and a moment to laugh before leaving her presence. She accredits her beautiful soul to the Jesus she served, and could regularly be found singing praise and worship music through good times and bad.
She is survived by her devoted children: her son, Austin Dowdy, and her daughters, Lacey West, Ashley Kick, and Kaye Dowdy. She also lives on through her cherished grandchildren, Nickolas and Alaina, her adoptive mother Carol Borgfield and a wide circle of friends whose lives were forever brightened by her presence.
