After a recent diagnosis of multiple myeloma, Dale M. Myers, 87, of Jackson, met Christ, his Lord and Savior. Dale passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born August 8, 1937, in Old Appleton, Missouri, to Paul J. and Hester Frissell Myers. He and Judith Daume were married August 18, 1962, at Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson.
Dale was proud to be a “Blue Jay”, graduating from Oak Ridge High School in a 1955. There, he played volleyball, basketball, and baseball, pitching the entire game of the first ever high school win.
In 1960, he graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in business administration and accounting. From 1960 to 1966, he honorably served in the Missouri National Guard.
Dale’s real carer opportunity came in late 1961 when he accepted employment at Jackson Savings Association, later Heritage Savings and Loan. In 1965, he became president and CEO, and during his tenure, he was honored to help many couples finance their first home.
After the unfortunate demise of the savings and loan industry in the early 1980s, Dale joined the senior management team at Mercantile Bank, now U.S. Bank, and retired as Senior Vice President in May 2000. Shortly thereafter, he served a 12-year appointment on the Community Bank Board at the Bank of Missouri. This completed his 50-year career in the financial industry.
Dale was always compelled to give back to a community that offered so much to him and his family. Some of his memberships and affiliations include member and former congregation president of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson; Jackson Rotary Club; Chambers of Commerce in Jackson and Cape Girardeau; board member of Southeast Missouri Hospital; Cape County Transit Authority; University of Missouri Extension Council; Historical Museum Board in Jackson; Foundation Board of Saint Francis Mental Health Center; and SEMO Fair Association.
Dale’s greatest treasures were his family and their farm, now a 5th generation “Frissell” family farm operated by son, Brian. Dale and Judy visited many Amish communities in the United States and cherished the friendships made through their travels. Other favorite past times included Cardinals Baseball and solving the world’s problems with his buddies at the coffee shops.
Loving survivors include his wife of 62 years, Judy Myers of Jackson; children, Brian (Tonya) Myers of Oak Ridge, Missouri and Julie (Ben) Davis of Farmington, Missouri; grandchildren: Dustin (Ashley) Myers; Kali (Jake) Sailer; Jack Davis; Kevin Davis; Brynn (Matt) Harrison; William Goyette; great-grandchildren, Gavin Myers and Elliot Sailer; siblings: Mary (late Harold) Robinson; Ruth (Larry) Barks; sisters-in-law, Jeanie (late Eugene) Myers and Greta (late Charles “Bill” Myers); and Judy’s siblings: Richard (Jane) Daume; Vernon (Ethel) Daume; Joyce (Wayne) Bock; Jean (Kent) Puchbauer.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Natalie Myers (2016); siblings, Eugene Myers, Donald Myers, and Charles “Bill” Myers; his parents, Paul J. and Hester Frissell Myers; and Judy’s parents, Charles and Marie Lowes Daume.
Visitation is from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, June 16, 2025, and from 9:30 a.m. to service time, Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
