Dale Paul Peer, 76, of Perryville, died Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Perry, in Perryville. He was born August 30, 1948, in Perryville, to Leslie R. and Velma T. (Mattingly) Peer, and was a 1966 graduate of St. Vincent High School in Perryville. Dale honorably served in the U.S. Navy from August 12, 1966, to August 29, 1969. He was assigned to the U.S. S. Hornet and had three tours in Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device. Dale retired from Gilster Mary Lee. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, the VFW and American Legion, all in Perryville. Dale loved his cats, dogs, and goats. His hobbies included assembling and flying model airplanes and drones, gardening vegetables and flowers, tinkering, and repairing all types of things. Survivors include five children, Stacy (Cary) Leimbach of Naples, Florida; Kelly (Chris) Ponder of Perryville; Tiphany Murillo (friend Brad Coffman) of Jackson; Ashley Peer (fiancé Ryon Lohmann) of Perryville; and Dustin (Courtney) Peer of Perryville; 17 grandchildren and another on the way; two great-grandsons; two brothers, Francis "Frank" (Kim) Peer of Jay, Oklahoma, and Robert "Bobby" (Carolyn) Peer of Perryville; four sisters, Wanda (Jerry) Brandt of Perryville; Sheila (Benjamin) Brown of St. Louis; Sandra (Leslie "Butch") Thornberry of Moore, Oklahoma; Sharon (Harold Jr.) Weisbrod of Perryville; sister-in-law, Ruth Ann (late Leslie "Jim") Peer of Phoenix, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Larry Peer and Leslie "Jim" Peer; two sisters, LaVesta (Stanley) Colin and Patricia (Larry "Doc") Weibrecht; and an infant brother, Michael Peer. A life celebration gathering will be held from 3 to 7 p.m., Friday, April 25, 2025, at River Hills Eagles in Perryville. If considering a memorial contribution, the family suggests the American Diabetes Association or the Missouri Veterans Home Foundation in Cape Girardeau. Inurnment and military honors are private at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville. Cremation arrangements by McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
