Damon Stover

Damon F. Stover, 83, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Friday, February 24, 2017, at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born September 10, 1933, in Obion County, Tennessee, to Lemmie and Opal Rodgers Stover. He and Helen Mueller were married June 6, 1971, in Frohna, Missouri.

Damon was raised in western Tennessee. He was a sales consultant in commercial trucking. His employment included the former Sam Tanksley Trucking and the former Charles Harris Trucking, both in Cape Girardeau, and 15 years for KLLM Transport in Jackson, Mississippi.

Damon was an avid fisherman and hunter, but with his wife, he shared the pride and joy of raising Brittany Spaniel puppies. Together, Damon and Helen enjoyed traveling the United States and showing their dogs. They raised and showed, Holly Time, a female Brittany that was #1 in the nation.

Loving survivors include his wife of nearly 46 years, Helen of Cape Girardeau; and a maternal aunt, Alberta Barton of Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In keeping with Damon's wishes, arrangements are private. Cremation accorded by McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Because of Damon's love and appreciation of animals, memorials are suggested to the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri, Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary, or ASPCA.
