Daniel Eugene Myer

Daniel Eugene Myer, 72, of Sedgewickville, formerly of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at his home in Sedgewickville.

He was born June 27, 1951, in Cape Girardeau, to Roy and Irene Heise Myer. He and Glennda Riebold were married January 8, 1977, in Jackson. Three children were born to their union, David, Kenneth, and Melissa. Dan was a graduate of Jackson High School. He worked ten years in housekeeping at Southeast Missouri State University.

Cancer struck Dan many years ago and he valiantly fought his way through a horrific surgery that nearly took his life. Though he remained cancer free for many years, he struggled with post-surgical pain the rest of his life.

Dan loved the Lord and was a member of Sedgewickville Baptist Church. He was a former member of First Baptist Church in Jackson. He liked carpentry work and electrical repairs, but above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

To cherish his memory, Dan leaves his wife of 47 years, Glennda Myer of Sedgewickville; three children and their families: David James (Katherine) Myer and children Gabe and Grace of Oak Ridge; Kenneth Wayne (Brooke) Myer and children Ian, Emily, Jayce, and Asher of Sedgewickville; and Melissa Diane (Patrick) Reagan of Jackson; two sisters, Katherine White of Cape Girardeau, Karen (Charles) Scott of Wappapello, Missouri; Glennda's maternal aunts, Loretta Wilson of Oak Ridge and Retha Morton of Jackson; and many cousins.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Irene Heise Myer, and Glennda's parents, Gilford and Wanda Volz Riebold.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to service time, Saturday, June 29, 2024, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The Rev. Louis Scott will conduct the funeral service at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Caney Fork Cemetery near Oak Ridge.
