David W. Seyer, 72, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at his home, after battling ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. On February 11, 1950, he was born to Lawrence and Dorothy (Schaefer) Seyer in Cape Girardeau.
David graduated in 1968 from Jackson High School. He enjoyed attending sporting events with his family. His biggest interest was in the Jackson Football team and held the same three reserved seats for many years. He and his brothers could sit and talk for hours about any sport.
David was a Godly man and attended Immaculate Conception church for 56 years. David lived as a Christian in all aspects of his life. He was a giving man, donating to many charities and the church throughout the years. He was kind and soft spoken, with a good ear for listening. He was not judgmental and he spoke the truth. David was exactly what this world needs more of.
David graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in Agri-Business. He worked for MFA Agri-Services for 13 ½ years and was the Assistant Manager at the Jackson location. Later he went to work for Buzzi Unicem (former Lone Star) cement plant where he retired after 25 years of service and was a member of the United Steel Workers Union (USW) Local 164.
In 1984, David married the love of his life, Jane (Rolwing) Seyer. Together, they raised two daughters, Chasady and Charity. In 2003, he lost that love when she died unexpectedly at the age of 46.
David leaves behind two daughters and a son-in-law that he loved as his own, Chasady (J) Stortz of Whitewater, and Charity Seyer of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Casey Stortz of Cape Girardeau, Joshua Stortz of Advance and Riley McDermott of St. Louis; one great-grandson Stetson Stortz of Advance; eight brothers, Larry (Ellen) Seyer, Tom Seyer, Gerald (Lori) Seyer, Richard (Debbie) Seyer, Mike (Cindy) Seyer, Gary (Nancy) Seyer, John Seyer, Bill (Bev) Seyer; three sisters, Mary Vomund, Kathy Mayfield, Pat (Mike) Reed; many nieces and nephews; and a friend he thought of like a daughter, Terrie Suhre.
David was proceeded in death by his parents; his loving wife; a brother, Paul Seyer; and his sister-in-law Joyce Seyer.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 20, 2022 from 2 PM until 5 PM at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Parish Prayers will be at 5 PM, followed by a rosary service at 5:30 PM.
Funeral Mass will be held Monday, February 21, 2022 at 10 AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson with the Rev. Randolph Tochtrop officiating.
David will be taken to his final resting place at Russell Heights in Jackson.
