Dirk W. Engelhart

Dirk W. Engelhart, 57, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born December 30, 1957, in Cape Girardeau, son of Joseph Charles and Joy Statler Engelhart. He and Pat Kieninger were married December 23, 1977 in Pocahontas.

Dirk was Baptized and Confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pocahontas, later transferring his membership to Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas where he had served as Elder, Treasurer, Trustee, and on various church committees. He was a 1976 graduate of Jackson High School, and served in the United States Marine Corps from September 30, 1976 until being honorably discharged September 29, 1980. He was owner/operator of Engelhart Electric in Jackson for a number of years. His most recent employment was with Alliance Water Resources, until declining health.

In addition to his wife, Pat, of 37 years, loving survivors include; two children, Jeremy and Rachel Engelhart of Jackson; his mother, Joy Engelhart of Jackson; a brother, Paul (Carol) Engelhart of Jackson; a sister, Fran Kuntz of Cape Girardeau; his mother-in-law, Verna Kieninger of Pocahontas; sisters-in-law, Linda (Bill) Wooten of Jackson and Debbie (Steve) Sandau of Salem, Oregon; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, a brother,his father-in-law, and three brothers-in-law.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 9 a.m. until service time on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., at the church with the Rev. Virgil Kelm officiating.

Interment will follow in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pocahontas, with military honors.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Saxony Lutheran High School in Jackson or Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund.
