Donald Ray Gregory, 85, of Whitewater, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born October 6, 1936, in Granite City, Illinois. Son of Johnie and Rebecca Greenlee Gregory. He and Shirley Scholz were married October 15, 1953 in Whitewater, Missouri. They would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary this year.
Donald was employed at Lenco for 16 years in Jackson. He went on to start his own business, Gregory's News Agency for 45 years until retirement. Donald was a man of great faith. He and Shirley were charter members of Connection Point Church formerly First General Baptist Church in Jackson. He was an ordained deacon and served at First General Baptist Church, Freewill Baptist Church and at Bethlehem General Baptist Church.
Loving survivors include his wife, Shirley; four daughters, Dianna (John) Stapleton of Crump, Duzy (Wayne) Wiedefield of Burfordville, Tammy (Rohan) Francis of Cape Girardeau and Karen (Ron) Obermann of Jackson; an honorary daughter, Debbie Little; Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, Sean (Lori) McFarland, Scott (Kelley) McFarland, Sara (Shawn) Cooley, Krista ( Ross) Newman, John (Kara) Stapleton, Melissa (Chad) Craft, Danielle Seabaugh ( Daryl Faire) , Danah (Rob) Brandle, Rebecca (Jeremy) Hahs, G. Michael Weston, Dusty Weston, Jeremy Voshage, Jessica Voshage (Austin Fowler), Joshua (Heather) Voshage; 29 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Ida (Jerry) Givens of Scott City; two sisters-in-law, Cathy Campbell of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Glenda Gregory of Chaffee, Missouri, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Ginny, two brothers, David Gregory and Dennis Gregory; two brothers-in-law, Richard Campbell and William Phelps; a sister-in-law, Wanda Phelps, and his parents.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 14, 2022 from 3:30 - 7:00 PM at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and from 9:30 until service time at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Crump.
Funeral service will be Monday, August 15, 2022 at 10:30 AM at the Church.
Interment will follow in Proffer Cemetery in Crump.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Teen Challenge or Proffer Cemetery.
