Donny Wayne Meyr

Donny Wayne Meyr, 72, of Cape Girardeau, passed away June 13, 2026, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born March 1, 1954, in Cape Girardeau, to Marvin H. and Allene B. Grossheider Meyr, Donny was the first of four children.

He was a graduate of Jackson High School and Nashville Diesel College in Nashville, Tennessee.

Donny, Carolyn, and Nancy operated the family farm south of Gordonville and Donny was proud to have received the designation of Missouri Century Farm. Donny and Carolyn operated the dairy farm until 2008, followed by custom cattle feeding, grain and hay farming. Donny also did lawn mower repairs for other people, and recently enjoyed watching American Pickers, This Old House, and shows about restoring old cars and old trucks.

Donny was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church south of Gordonville, where he was baptized and confirmed. There, he was responsible for building maintenance, grounds-keeping, mowing, and served as a trustee.

Loving survivors include two sisters, Nancy Meyr and Carolyn Meyr of Cape Girardeau; one cat named Edward; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Kenneth Ray Meyr.

Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m., Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church near Gordonville. The Rev. Daniel Warner will conduct the funeral service at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 18, at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, where Donny will be laid to rest next to his maternal grandfather.

Serving as pallbearers are Josh Wessel, Clayton Powell, Justin Koerber, Wayne, Austin, and Carson Bodenstein.

If considering a memorial contribution, the family suggests Zion Lutheran Church or a charity of donor’s choice.
