Listen to Obituary

Dorothy May Horn, 87, of Jackson, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Jackson Manor in Jackson. She was born May 1, 1939, to Henry and Lena (Seabaugh) Maintz, on the Maintz family farm near Oak Ridge, Missouri, land that would later become the Maintz Wildlife Preserve.

Dorothy was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School. On July 12, 1968, she married Truman Udel Horn, the love of her life, in St. Louis. Later, they made their home in Bowling Green, Kentucky, before returning to Missouri in 1984. They shared 52 years together before Truman preceded her in death on January 23, 2021.

Dorothy owned and operated Dottie’s Ceramics, work she enjoyed as both a hobby and a business, until retiring in the early 2000s. She loved traveling, whether RVing, attending bluegrass festivals, camping with her grandchildren, or visiting Mexico and Texas. She was also known for her baking, especially the cakes she enjoyed decorating. Dorothy never missed a birthday or an opportunity to bring family and friends together in celebration. She was happiest when surrounded by those she loved.

She is survived by her children; Kevin Horn of Little Rock, Arkansas, Karl “Bo” Horn of Steedman, Missouri, Vickie Ford, of Jackson, and Teresa (Brock Fisher) Warner, of Jackson; her sister, Rose Moneyhun; nine grandchildren, Daniel Young, Robert Ford, Ashley (Joshua Waller) Ford, Thomas Horn, Shania (Forest) Kincaid, Jaesa (David Lester) Warner, Austin (Mindy) Ford, Alyssa (Gage) Yount, and Elizabeth Ford; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman; her parents; her brother, Hoover Maintz; and her sister, Geraldine Seabaugh.
