June 16, 1938 — September 11, 2021

Cape Girardeau, Missouri

Dorothy “Dottie” V. Eaker, age 83, of Cape Girardeau was granted peace when she entered her eternal home on Sept. 11, 2021. Dottie had spent the last 10 months in a skilled nursing facility.

Dorothy was born in Painton, Missouri, daughter of Charles and Hattie Head. She graduated from Bell City High School in 1956 and moved to St. Louis where she secured employment with Proctor and Gamble. On August 9, 1957, Dorothy married Naamon D. Eaker in St. Louis and the couple relocated to Norfolk, VA where Mr. Eaker was stationed in the United States Navy. The Eakers returned to Cape Girardeau in early 1960. Dorothy began her first career as a cashier/head cashier at National Supermarkets, later known as Del-Farm Food Stores, retiring after more than 35 years. She went on to become a real estate agent with Century 21 Ashland Reality in Cape Girardeau, where she worked for more than 22 years.

Mrs. Eaker was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of The Eastern Star, and a member for more than fifty years. Dorothy was also a member of the Cape Cowboy Church where she served on the Prayer Posse for many years. She loved to work with and serve the public, allowing her to meet and befriend countless people along the way.

Survivors include her husband, Naamon, of the home; two daughters, Karen Bauer of Benton, Missouri and Kimi (Brad) Moore of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Justin Eaker of Benton; Carissa (Nathan) Bragg of Davidson, North Carolina; and Dr. Jerica Moore of Kansas City, Missouri; two great-grandsons, Aaron and Isaac Bragg of Davidson, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers and five sisters-in-law, Charles D. (Marion) Head, John D. (Rachel) Head, Delcia O. (Peggy) Head, Silas D. (Barbara) Head, Denver (Barbara) Head, and Clifford D. Head; and a son-in-law, Keith Bauer.
