Doyal Lee Abernathy

Doyal Lee Abernathy, age 70, of Jackson passed away Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Mercy Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born September 2, 1953, in Cape Girardeau, the son of Carl W. and Gustie Irene Hager Abernathy. When Doyal was three years old his mother passed away and his father married Shirley Kinder on October 30, 1964. Doyal attended Jackson schools. After retiring, Doyal went to work as a dishwasher at Heartland Care and Rehab in Cape Girardeau. This was a job he truly enjoyed. His greatest love in life was being a Dad and Paw Paw. Loving survivors include his daughter, Kia (Darrell) Cochran of Jackson; three grandchildren, Daphne Warren, Luke Warren, and Kilie Cook; a brother, Marvin Abernathy of Fort Worth, Texas; two stepbrothers, Stanley (Robin) Kinder of Millersville and Stweart Kinder of Scopus. He was preceded by his parents, his stepmother and his sister, Carol Jones. A memorial visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Thursday, March 28, 2024, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Memorial contributions may be made to McCombs Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
