Doyle Oehl

August 29, 1951 — June 28, 2025

Rural Jackson, Mo.

Doyle M. Oehl, 73, of rural Jackson, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025, while doing what he loved – farming.

He was born August 29, 1951, in Cape Girardeau, to Marlen E. and Lorene F. Rose Oehl.  He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim.  He was an eight-grade graduate of St. Paul Lutheran School and was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he was still an active member.  Doyle and Jane Brockmeyer were married April 12, 1980, at Hawk Point, Missouri.  Two children were born to their union, John and Maria.

Doyle was a 1969 graduate of Jackson High School.  In 1973, he received a bachelor’s degree in agri-business from Southeast Missouri State University.

Doyle was employed ten years with Production Credit Association, in St. Charles, Mo., Troy, Mo., and later Jackson, Mo.  Upon returning to Jackson in 1979, he purchased a farm near Allenville and devoted his full attention to farming.   He also worked on his family’s farm, near Oak Ridge, which is where he and Jane made their home. Over the years, he shared his love of farming with his son, family, and community.

He was a respected member of the Citizens Electric Board; MFA, Inc. (state and local board); and MFA Oil (state board).

Doyle was well-known for putting others first, and he was always faithful in supporting the activities of his children.  He enjoyed bowling, playing cards with neighbors, previously played fast and slow pitch softball, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan.

Loving survivors include his wife of 45 years, Jane Oehl, children, John (Teresa) Oehl and Maria (Brock) Allen, grandchildren Lucy, Bennett, Kylie, Leo, and Emily, all of Jackson; and sisters, Dr. Darlene (Alan) Jones of Midland, Michigan and Loretta (Ray) Falkner of La Jolla, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2025, and from 9 a.m. to service time, Thursday, July 3, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

The Rev. Joshua Schmidt will conduct the funeral service at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the church.  Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

If considering a memorial contribution, the family suggests St. Paul Lutheran Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
