Earl Wilson Stovall, Jr.

Earl W. Stovall, Jr., 88, of Jackson, Missouri passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born November 12, 1931, in Jackson, Missouri, son of Earl W. and Mattie D. Morton Stovall Sr. He and Verna A. Raymer Farmer  were married January 23, 1976 in Warren, Arkansas.

Earl was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson serving as Chairman and an Elder.  He was a 1949 graduate of Jackson High School. He served in the US Navy 1951-1955 on the USS Prichett #DD-561. He was a member of the USS Prichett Association. He and Verna enjoyed attending the Prichett Reunions for 22 years. The reunions were held in different locations of the United States and they made many friends.

In 1925 his father, Earl Stovall Sr. originated the Jackson Oil Company. He worked along-side his father in the gas distributing business. Later Earl and Kenneth Bender became co-owner in the company and the business closed in 1996.

He was a member in the American Legion for 66 years, Jackson VFW, and a Charter member of the Jackson Jaycees.

Loving survivors include his wife, son, Steven (Sandy) Stovall of Diamond Head, MI, step-daughter, Angela (Tim) Burr of Jackson, and step-son Ross Farmer of Valley Center, CA.

Also surviving are two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Along with one sister, Martha (Kenneth) Bender of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Kerri Dawn Stovall Parks in September 2002.

The visitation will be on Saturday August 22, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. until service at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating.

Interment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery & Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Southeast Missouri Food Bank, First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, or Southeast Humane Society.
