Earlene Doris (Stearns) Langston

June 9, 1938 — April 11, 2021

Jackson, Missouri

Earlene Doris Langston, 82, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021, at the Villas of Jackson, where she received excellent care the past ten months.

She was born June 9, 1938, in Daisy, to Ova and Nellie Hobeck Stearns.  She and Clarence Langston were married Dec. 22, 1958 in Jackson.  They had been married 27 years when Clarence passed away April 12, 1986.

Earlene was a 1957 graduate of Jackson High School.  She was a devoted mother who was involved in many of her daughters’ activities as they were growing up.  She was a Girl Scout Leader and softball coach for many years and enjoyed attending their events.  She was always there for her girls and she was their best supporter and cheerleader.  She continued the tradition with her grandchildren, attending their events and just spending time with them.  In short, family was her key to HAPPINESS!

Earlene was a faithful member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson and the quilting group.  Earlene was an avid Bridge player, often playing cards at the Jackson Senior Center with her friends, Ivern Glass, Nell Langford and Joyce Brown.

Loving survivors include three daughters, Cindy (James) Goodpasture, Becky (Steve) Wachter, and Kristie (Todd) Rayburn, all of Jackson; grandchildren, Jamie (Zach) Brazer, Cody (Tyler) Zimmerman, Landon (Travis) Jones, Paden (Brannon) Wright, Luke (Cailin) Rayburn, Levi Rayburn; and ten great-grandchildren, Bryn, Bella, Landry, Blake, Braddeck, Judah, Noah Grace, Eli, Bennett, and Collins; five siblings: Carmen “Peg” (Charles) Newell and Linda (Jerry) Morton of Jackson; Richard (Brenda) Stearns of Lonedell, Missouri; Mary (the late Bud) James of Patton, Missouri; Patsy Wendel of Jackson; and two sisters-in-law, Minnie (the late Virgil) Stearns and Georgia (the late Robert) Stearns of Jackson; and her extended family at Villas of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, Virgil Stearns, Fred (Rosemary) Stearns, and Robert “Bob” Stearns; and a sister, Sue Clippard.
