Edna Amelia (Dethrow) Thompson

Edna Amelia Thompson, 87, of Jackson, passed away May 4, 2023 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau surrounded by family. She was born in Chester, Illinois on July 31, 1935, daughter of Lester and Odelia Kerkover Dethrow. She and Joe Thompson were married on June 20, 1964 at St. Boniface in Perryville, Missouri. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's in Chester, Illinois. Edna was a 1953 graduate of Chester High School and a 1956 graduate of DePaul Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis. Loving survivors include her husband Joe of Jackson; five children, Linda (Kevin) McBride of Kimberling City, Missouri, Paul Thompson of Springfield, Illinois, Joan (Nick) Mayberry of Jackson, Thomas Thompson of Thatcher, Arizona and Charles (Tricia) Thompson of Amarillo, Texas; nine grandchildren, April (Kyle) Grieshaber, Brett McBride, Calvin (Ashton) Thompson, Alec (Maddie) Mayberry, Joseph McBride, Coltin (Megan) Thompson, Sage Thompson, Tuesday Thompson, and Brooke Thompson as well as step grandchildren Cale (Jessie) and Quinn (Michelle) Maupin and Brittany, Jake and Josh Garcia. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Kylie Mayberry and Henry Thompson; two siblings, Gail (Bob) Moranville of Hillsboro, Illinois and Jerry (Maggie) Dethrow of Columbia, Missouri. She was preceded in death by two siblings, sister, Barbara and brother Tom; along with her parents. The visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Monday, May 8, 2023 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center. The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Immaculate Conception in Jackson with Rev. Randolph Tochtop officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
