Edward J. Stone

Edward Jacob Stone, 86, of Jackson passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 1, 1937, in Wamego, Kansas, son of Harry and Mattie Stone. Edward and Barbara were married on July 19,1959. She passed away December 1, 2014. Edward was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force for four years. He then retired from Montgomery Wards after 27 years of service. Edward was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. He enjoyed traveling with Barbara to many destinations during their 55 years together. Edward loved going on fishing trips with his fishing buddies and camping groups. He loved participating in classic car events in the area. Loving survivors include his children; Lori (Robert) Meyer of Jackson, Jeff (Cindy) Stone of Jackson, and Lisa Conklin of Jackson; four grandchildren, James Meyer of Scottsdale, AZ, Megan (Ryan) Rouse of Lee's Summit, MO, Alex (Natalie) Stone of Jackson and Mathew Conklin of Oak Ridge. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and sister, Kathryn Jenkins. The visitation will be from 4 - 7 PM on Thursday May 23, 2024, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center. A private burial will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to The Wounded Warriors Foundation.
