Edward N. Yarbrough, 95, formerly of Florissant, Missouri, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2020, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
Edward was born February 18, 1925, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Noah Isaac and Ingeborg Marie Norlin Yarbrough.
A proud veteran of World War II, Edward was a Signalman, Second Class, serving in the U.S. Navy from October 15, 1942 to February 18, 1946. He subsequently served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. Sergeant Yarbrough was honorably discharged from the Air Force March 20, 1950.
After his military career, Edward attended Rhode Island School of Design, graduating in 1954 with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts. He then worked as a commercial artist in Milford, Connecticut.
He and Marie J. Strepka were married May 10, 1963, in St. Louis. In 1973, they moved from Connecticut to St. Louis, and Edward became employed as an art editor for the United Pentecostal Church.
Edward and Marie were faithful members of the New Life Pentecostal Church in Bridgeton, Missouri, and Edward served on the stewardship committee. Having developed a love for world travel during the war, Edward had a passion for world missions. Because the Lord blessed Edward, he, in turn supported several world missionaries. Edward and Marie had been married nearly 48 years when she passed away February 11, 2011.
Loving survivors include nieces, Judith (Robert) Bentley of Jackson and Jean Cowell of Kingston, Tennessee, and Jerolyn (Robert) Kelley of Glasgow, Scotland; many other dear nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, David (Dorothy) Strepka of Kingston, Tennessee; and a sister-in-law, Naomi Yarbrough of Massachusetts.
