Eleanor J. Loos, 88, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home, surrounded by loving family.
She was born October 9, 1937, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Nicholas and Flora Warner Ollinger. She was a 1955 graduate of Notre Dame High School in St. Louis. She and Norman H. Loos were married November 22, 1956, in Oakville, Missouri, and together they shared a loving life for 69 years.
Eleanor was a placement interviewer for the Division of Employment in both St. Louis and Cape Girardeau. She was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson, and the St. Ann Sodality. For many years, she bowled in the Ladies League at the Jackson Lanes, and she especially enjoyed Card Club with her friends in Jackson and St. Louis.
Loving survivors include a daughter, Connie J. (late Paul) Mize of Jackson; grandchildren: Charissa (Kyle) Griggs of Jackson and Ryan (Khloe) Mize of Chaffee; great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Bentley Griggs of Jackson, and Parker Mize of Chaffee; Norman’s siblings: Shirley (late Robert) Etherton of Fenton, Missouri; Sharon Rotan and Loretta (late Jim) Rector of Robertsville, Missouri; Richard (Pat) Loos of Foristell, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Gerald E. Loos; son-in-law, Paul Mize; her parents; three siblings, Alice Hummelsheim; Robert Ollinger; Jeanette Heuvelman; and Norman’s family: parents, Edward J. and Ruth Loos; and siblings, Edward and Donald Loos, Dorothy Kious, Delores Dunlop, Patricia Kious and Barbara Purvis.
Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, June 27, 2026, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Father Randolph Tochtrop will celebrate funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson. Due to construction, Mass will be observed in the school cafeteria. Main-level, paved parking is available on the south and west side of the school. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
