Elwanda M. (Stroder) Seabaugh

February 7, 1935 — August 25, 2022

Jackson, Missouri

Elwanda Marie Seabaugh, 87, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022, at The Villas of Jackson.

The oldest of five children, she was born February 7, 1935, to John and Geraldine McGuire Stroder.

Elwanda was a 1953 graduate of Jackson High School. She and classmate, Kenny Seabaugh, were married November 4, 1955, and they raised their three daughters in Jackson.  Elwanda and Kenny had been married 51 years when Kenny passed away in 2007.

Elwanda worked at the hosiery mill in Jackson, Seabaugh Construction Co. in its early years, and at Libson’s women’s clothing store in Cape Girardeau, where she loved working with the clients.

Through the years, her hobbies and interests included many hours at Jackson Bowling Lanes and Kimbeland Golf Course, canning the many vegetables her family planted in two huge gardens, decades of oil and watercolor painting with her friends, and hunting with Kenny. After Kenny’s passing, she took the opportunity to travel, including trips to Alaska, The Netherlands, Ireland, Germany and Italy.

She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson.

Elwanda is survived by daughters Connie (the late David) Sides and Cathy (Becky Frey) Seabaugh, son-in-law Phil (the late Shelia) Hager, brothers Larry (the late Linda) Stroder and Gary (Karen) Stroder, sister-in-law Katie (the late Jerry) Stroder, brother-in-law Bill (the late Shirley) Pfeiffer, grandchildren Ryan Sides, Jeff (Leslie) Hager, Erin (Drue) Kampmann and Megan (Marc) Ashby, great-grandchildren Blake, Izobel, Avery, Harper, Logan, Cooper and Canton.

She was preceded in death by Kenny, daughter Shelia Hager, parents Geraldine and John Stroder, sister Shirley Pfeiffer, brother Jerry Stroder, nephew John Stroder, three sisters-in-law - Linda Stroder, Vicky Stroder and Verna Jean (Tom) Boyd - and a maternal aunt, Kathleen Wilson.
