Esther B. (Bingenheimer) Mcclard Nobus

Esther McClard Nobus, 92, of Jackson, died Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home, where she resided the past 10 years.

She was born February 9, 1926, in Jackson, to William F. and Gusta Sievers Bingenheimer.  She and Ollie McClard were married March 24, 1951.  Five children were born to their union, and they had been married 25 years when Ollie passed away September 18, 1976.  She and Ed Nobus were married December 5, 1981.  They had been married 26 years when Ed passed away June 3, 2008.

Esther was a 1945 graduate of Jackson High School.  She worked 22 years in production at the former International Shoe Factory in Jackson, retiring in 1988.  She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, cooking and canning.  She had a special knack for rolling dumplings and made them for the former Jer’s Restaurant in uptown Jackson.

She was a faithful, lifelong member of Emanuel United Church in Jackson, also the church of her baptism (March 27, 1926) and confirmation (April 2, 1939).  She sang in the choir and was active in other church organizations.

Loving survivors include three daughters, Barbara Chaney and Teresa (Gary) Smith of Jackson, Shirley (Jerry) Cates of Cape Girardeau; a step-daughter, Barbie Carlson of Arlington, Texas; 8 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grancdhild.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ollie McClard; a son, Carl McClard; a stillborn twin daughter, Ruth Ann McClard; a brother, Clarence Bingenheimer; her second husband, Ed Nobus; and two step-sons, Thomas A. and Edward J. Nobus

Visitation is Friday, April 27, 2018, from 4 to 8 p.m., at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral is Saturday, April 28, 2018, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home, with the Revs. Joe Rowley and Sam Roethemeyer officiating.  Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson.
