Eugene Hecht

Eugene Hecht, 87, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born February 11, 1929 in Altenburg, Missouri, son of William H. and Louise Swan Hecht. He and Vera Koeberl were married April 25, 1953.

Eugene served in the United States Army from 1951 and was honorably discharge in 1953. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg, where he was baptized, confirmed, and married. He was a dairy and beef farmer, and a former member of Mid America Dairy Association, East Perry Dairy, the Perry County Fair Committee, and the Lions Club in Altenburg.

Loving survivors include his wife of 63 years; two children, James Hecht and Susan Hecht of Jackson; a grandson, Nick Arnold (fiancée, Cari Noel) of Jackson; two sisters, and Norma Mueller of St. Louis, and Doris (Bill) Sullivan of Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Benjamin and Edgar Hecht, and a sister, Edna Culp.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. until service time on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Mike Gallagher from Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville officiating.

A graveside committal will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2016 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the church or charity of choice.
