Eugenie Wessel

October 24, 1929 — June 18, 1950

Eugenie F. Wessel, 88, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tues. Jan. 2, 2018 at the Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Oct. 24, 1929 near Tilsit, MO daughter of Albert and Ida Lange Siebert. She was married to Harold Wessel on June 18, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. Harold preceded her in death in 2015.

Eugenie raised four children and helped to run the family farm. She was actively involved in church activities and was a member of the Ladies Aid at Zion Lutheran Church for over 60 years. She enjoyed bowling leagues, playing card games and watching Cardinal games. She had a great gift of hospitality which benefited many over her lifetime.

Loving survivors include her children, Dennis (Sharon) Wessel, Linda (Robert) Bohnsack, Kay (Adam) Kidd all of Cape Girardeau, and Karen (Gary) Marklin of St. Louis. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Leah (Travis) Cagle, Eric (Melissa) Wessel, Myka Bohnsack, Lainie (Reid)Thomas, Luke (Tara) Marklin, Krista (Jordan) Rowe, Daniel Marklin and Blake, Ellie, Spencer, Bennett, Jolie and Kyah Kidd, as well as 6 great-grandchildren: Blaiklee and Kholbie Cagle, Owen and Conley Wessel, August Marklin and Crosby Thomas. Also surviving are her siblings Raymond Siebert, Dena Kamp and Pearl Keller as well as many nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her parents, sisters Ruth Volkerding and Ruby Siebert and a brother William Siebert.

Friends may call Friday, from 12 - 2 pm at Zion Lutheran Church of Gordonville.

Funeral service will be at 2 pm at the Church with the Rev. Wayne Schwiesow officiating.

Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to: Zion Lutheran Church 176 County Road 226 Gordonville, MO.
