Everett Lee Cassady

Everett Lee Cassady, 75, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 8, 1945, in Kirksville, Missouri, son of Charles and Lenora Mosely Cassady. He and Carmen Chavez were married July 2, 1969, in Clovis, New Mexico. They had been married 37 years, when she passed away March 5, 2006.

Everett was a 1963 graduate of Brashear High School in Brashear, Missouri. He moved to St. Louis and worked for McDonald-Douglas Aircraft Corporation, until entering the U.S. Air Force in March 1966. He was honorably discharged in March 1970. Following his marriage and release from military service, he and Carmen moved to Jackson, so Everett could attend Southeast Missouri State University.

After his graduation in 1973, he was employed by the Jackson School District, retiring after 28 years. He then worked part-time at the district’s alternative school for an additional 12 years.

Everett lived to see many of his life’s dreams come to fruition.

Loving survivors include a son, Everett Cassady II of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Julie Stone of Jackson; granddaughter, Myan Cassady Stone of Jackson; and brother, Michael Johnson of Hensley, Arkansas.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Monday at the funeral home, with Brian McAlister officiating.

Interment will follow in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society or Humane Society of Southeast Missouri.
