Fern Luella Shultz

Fern L. Shultz, 92, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Auburn Creek Assisted Living in Cape Girardeau, where she lived the past six years.

She was born November 19, 1933, in Jackson, to John K. and Bertha C. Bingenheimer Peetz. She was raised in Tilsit, on the family farm, and was a graduate of Jackson High School. She and Charles F. Shultz were married January 6, 1957, at St. James United Church of Christ in Tilsit.

Fern was a homemaker, devoting her full attention to her family. She had been a member of Zion Methodist Church in Gordonville since 1972. Fern was a former president of the VFW Auxiliary #10495 in Jackson. Her volunteer work included 40 years at the SEMO District Fair; the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau; and the Meals on Wheels Program at the Jackson Senior Center. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed canning and flower gardening.

Loving survivors include three children, Rick (Jan) Shultz of Milan, Tennessee; Roland Shultz of O’Fallon, Missouri; Cheryl (Scott) Rhodes of Advance, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Kim (the late Randy) Shultz of Gordonville; nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Randy Shultz; two brothers, John and Norman Peetz; and her parents.

Arrangements are incomplete at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
