Floyd E. Hoffman

Floyd E. Hoffman, 83, of New Wells, passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the Monticello House in Jackson, where he had resided since January, 2016.

He was born October 6, 1932, in New Wells, to Benjamin and Edna Kutscher Hoffman. He and Mildred Wallman were married June 12, 1955, at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas.

Floyd was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells. He was a lifelong member of the church and attended the former Immanuel Grade School. In later years, he served on the school board and was a church trustee.

The Hoffman family resided and farmed Floyd's family farm at New Wells, raising hogs and cattle many years. Floyd also worked at the former Litz Poultry Plant; the former Feeders Warehouse; drove a truck; and drove a school bus many years.

Loving survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mildred of New Wells; five children, Wayne Hoffman of Oak Ridge, Wesley (Becky) Hoffman of New Wells, Wade (Julie) Hoffman of Shawneetown; Wanda Hoffman of Dover, New Hampshire, Wendy (Mike) Aufdenberg of Jackson; eight grandchildren, Justin (Sarah) Hoffman, Meredith (Kyle) Luttrull, Kelsey, Lance, and Larissa Hoffman, Morgan Bangert, Ryan and Cody Aufdenberg; a great-grandson, Eli Luttrull; and three siblings, Irene (the late Arnold) Mirly of New Wells, Ruby (Harold) Heise of Uniontown, and Ruben Hoffman of New Wells.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Viola Hoffman; and a son-in-law, Rob Bangert (1998).

Visitation will be Monday, June 27, 2016, from 4 to 8 p.m., at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson; and Tuesday, June 28, 2016, from 9:30 AM to service time, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells.

The funeral will be Tuesday, June 28, at 10:30 a.m., at the church, with the Rev. Lawrence Bradt officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Immanuel Lutheran Sermon Tape Fund; Saxony Lutheran High School; or donor's choice of church or charity.
