Freda Joyce Smotherman

Freda Joyce Smotherman, 79, of Jackson, passed away June 4, 2023, at the Monticello House. Freda was born February 4, 1944, in Calloway County, KY, daughter of the late Albert and Argenteen Sills Smotherman. Freda was a 1962 graduate of Hayti High School. She attended Three Rivers Community College. She worked for Noranda in New Madrid, and later Unilever in Sikeston, until retirement. She enjoyed bowling and billiards. Loving survivors include two sons, Sammy (Cindy) Lawson of Jackson, Steve Lawson of Poplar Bluff, four grandchildren, Logan (Hana) Lawson, Kayla (Sean) Klipfel, Lainey Lawson, and Sadie Lawson. Four great-grandchildren, Rhett Lawson, Rayne Lawson, Jaxon Klipfel, and Lawson Klipfel. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter, Suzanne Lawson. A graveside service will be 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 8 2023 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti, Missouri. Memorials may take the form of contributions to SEMO Pets.
