Gary Bruce Roberts

Gary Bruce Roberts, 76, of Oriole, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025, at his home.

He was born March 6, 1949, in Poplar Bluff, to Rosell W. and Alda Bailey Roberts.

Bruce attended school at Nell Holcomb in Cape Girardeau County and Shawnee High School in Wolf Lake, Illinois.

Bruce worked at the Florsheim Shoe Factory in Cape Girardeau, Procter & Gamble, and then owned and operated Roberts Auto Repair in Jackson. Mechanic work was his true calling.

Bruce rode motorcycles from the age of 16 to 72. He had a generous spirit, and established the first toy-run in Cape Girardeau County, hosted other bike events, and donated proceeds to local charities.

Bruce resided 18 years in Warm Springs, Arkansas and moved back to Jackson in 2011. While living in Arkansas, he was baptized in a creek and was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include daughters: Susan Newman Nabors and husband Dale of Cape Girardeau; Angela Roberts Clark and husband Don of Manteo, North Carolina; Amy Roberts O’Rear of O’Fallon, Missouri; grandchildren: Jennifer Auer; Amanda Davis; Andrew, Alexander, and Casey Nabors; Zack, Nadia Chaudoir, and Mallory Chaudoir-Lackey; Ryan, Alisha, Megan, and Jason O’Rear; 13 great-grandchildren; a niece, Kelly Roberts; nephews, Clark, Ryan, Thomas, and Terry “T.J” Roberts; many cousins and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his former wife, Ouida Tweedy Roberts; his parents; and two brothers, Mike “Scooter” Roberts and Ricky Roberts.

In accordance with Bruce’s wishes, there are no services. Cremation accorded by McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
