Gary Ray Wendel, 78, of Cape Girardeau and formerly of Jackson passed away, Tuesday February 1, 2022.
He was born January 28, 1944, in Cape Girardeau, son of Jacob T. and Edith "Allegra" Daume Wendel. He and Emilie Propst were married July 10, 1965 at Sedgewickville Lutheran Church.
Gary was a 1961 graduate of Jackson High School. He farmed for many years while also working at Jackson CO - OP and later at the Jackson High School as a custodian. He was a member of Excelsior Masonic Lodge and Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson. Loving survivors include his wife Emilie Wendel; a grandson, Aidin Wendel; two siblings David (Janet) Wendel of Jackson and Jane (Richard) Malone.
Also surviving are many nieces, nephews great nieces, great nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Brandon Wendel and a sister and brother - in - law Ruth and Roger Lane.
Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until service time Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. the funeral home with Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating.
Interment will follow in St. James Church of Christ Cemetery in Tilsit, Missouri.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to American Diabetes or Alzheimer's Association.
