Gary D. Wilkinson, 86, of Jackson, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2025, at his home.
He was born February 24, 1939, in Millersville, Missouri, to Ruthford C. and Cecile I. Statler Wilkinson. He was a member of Millersville Baptist Church, also the church where he was saved and baptized.
Gary was a graduate of Jackson High School. He and Judith "Judy" Ann Marie McClard were married December 5, 1959, at New Bethel Baptist Church near Pocahontas. They had been married 64 years when Judy passed away June 26, 2024.
Gary worked at the Jackson Hosiery Mill, Talley Service Station, and over 30 years for MODOT, retiring as the shed foreman. Gary was a mechanic and had a special knack for fixing and building other things. He especially enjoyed caring for his yard and vegetable gardening.
To cherish his memory, he leaves a daughter, Tina (Mark) Hobeck of Jackson; grandchildren, Spencer (Kayla) Hobeck of Millersville, Ashley Hobeck, and Mackenzie Hobeck (Hank Becker) of Jackson; great-grandchildren, Tyson, Audrey, Kiarra, Addison, Brynleigh, and Raegan; siblings, LaDonna (Bob) Perusse of Justin, Texas, J.W. (Louise) Wilkinson of Hurst, Texas; and Judy's brothers, David McClard of Mounds, Oklahoma and Randy (late Sharon) McClard of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; parents, Ruthford and Cecile Wilkinson; Judy's parents, Andrew and Lillie Bishop McClard; and Judy's sister, Joan (John) Farrow.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The Rev. Fred Burgard will conduct the funeral service at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery.
