Gelena W. (Culp) Stoffregen

Gelena W. Stoffregen, 89, of Jackson, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021, at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau.

She was born December 30, 1931, in East St. Louis, Illinois, to Claude and Dorothy Kellett Culp.  She was a 1950 graduate of Delta High School.

Gelena and Freddie W. Stoffregen were married October 20, 1950, in Morley, Missouri.  They had been married nearly 50 years when Freddie passed away May 15, 2000.

She was a charter member of the Church of Christ in Jackson, where she previously taught children’s Sunday school.  She was employed 12 years at Wal-Mart in Jackson, working in the fabric department, checking, and coordinator of greeting cards.  She enjoyed traveling, reading, and flower gardening.

Loving survivors include four children, Sharon (Wally) Eck of Jackson, Karen (Joe) Kight of Utica, Kentucky, Fred J. (Lori) Stoffregen of Fredericktown, and Claudia (Scott) Voges of Millersville; eight grandchildren, Chad (Tammy) Smith, Amanda (Mike) Keill, Josh (Tim) Stoffregen, Jake Stoffregen, Jenny (Alex) Carr, Kasey (Derek) Welch, Corey (Jennifer) Hodzic, Kori Voges, Michael (Laura) Eck, and Heather (Chad) Moore; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Claude (Betty Ann) Culp.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to service time, Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.  Face masks are requested and appreciated.

The funeral is at 1 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home, with Jerry Culbertson officiating and Andy Chesser leading music.  Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Children’s Homes Inc. (better known as Church of Christ Children’s Home).
