Ginny Jones

Virginia Lee "Ginny" Jones, 92, of Jackson passed away April 17, 2018 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born October 12, 1925, in Jackson, daughter of Christian D. and Kathryn Koch Wolters. She and Harold Everett Jones were married April 14, 1956.

Ginny was confirmed and married in the Evangelical Church in Cape Girardeau. She graduated from Cape Central High School in 1943, and attended Cape Business College. After high school, she spent four years in California, working as a bookkeeper in aircraft manufacturing and shipyards. After moving back to Cape Girardeau, she worked as a switchboard operator at Southeast Hospital, a bookkeeper for Harold Locke Beer Distributing and Litz Brothers Poultry. After marrying Harold, they moved to Jackson, where she worked for Koch Manufacturing, E-Z Pump Gas and Delmonico's. She has been a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson since 1956, a member of the Women Fellowship, Church Women United, and was an Auxiliary Member of the VFW Post #10495. Ginny was an active member at the Jackson Senior Center, driving herself every day to play cards with her beloved ROOK group and other friends.

Loving survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Rowdy and Tracy Goode Jones of Manchester, Missouri and two grandchildren, Nicholas Jones and Fiancé Allie Mueller of Madison, Wisconsin, and Dr. Mackenzie Lee Jones and husband Erek Alper of Hanover, New Hampshire.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold, in 1972.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2018 at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson and from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the funeral home. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Wavis Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Jackson Senior Center.
