Glenn Oldham

Glenn Oldham, 79, of Jackson, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017, at his home.

He was born April 25, 1937, in Cape Girardeau, to Charlie Mason and Pamela Anna Belle Adams Oldham. He and Mary Sue Green were married September 1, 1957, at Burfordville Baptist Church in Burfordville, Missouri.

Glenn was a 1957 graduate of Jackson High School and a lifelong resident of Jackson. He worked over 35 years for Coca Cola in Jackson. His other affiliations in Jackson include: three-term city councilman, serving from 1987 to 1996; member of the Jaycees, earning the Distinguished Service Award; running the chain over 40 years for Jackson High School Football; and coaching AAU Girls basketball, girls softball, boys baseball, and women's slow pitch softball.

He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Jackson, where he served on the Space and Property Committee, served Friday morning breakfast to junior and senior high school students at The Bridge, participated in the annual Easter pageant as a cast member and was instrumental in building sets. In his spare time, Glenn enjoyed fishing and watching his grandchildren play sports. He also worked part-time at Schnucks in Cape Girardeau until his health rendered him unable to do so.

Loving survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Sue of Jackson; three children, Steve (Tracie) Oldham of Jackson, Lisa (Tim) Billings of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and DeAnn (Jeff) Lorberg of Gordonville, Missouri; five grandchildren: Taylor Billings of New York, New York; Trent Billings of San Angelo, Texas; Leah (Justin) Metzger and son Granger of Wytheville, Virginia; Tyler (Katie) Lorberg and children Cooper and Brynlie of Gordonville, Missouri; and Laramie Lorberg of Gordonville; two siblings, Jim (Verla) Oldham of Oak Ridge and Patsy (Larry) Stearns of Forsyth, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Paul Dean Oldham; a half-brother, William Oldham; and his parents.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 7, 2017, from 3:30 to 8 p.m., at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating.

Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Southeast Hospice; First Baptist Church (Space and Property); or Cape County Cowboy Church.
