Glenn Elmer Saupe, 78, of Shawneetown, Missouri, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at his home.
He was born March 10, 1939, in Shawneetown, to Elmer Ernst "Pete" and Elsie Ruth Winter Saupe. He and Doris Wibbenmeyer were married July 17, 1970 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Shawneetown, also the church of his baptism and confirmation.
Glenn was an honorably discharged veteran of U.S. Army Reserve, serving honorably from April 30, 1961 to March 7, 1967.
He worked at the former Perry Crating in Frohna, Missouri; Fruitland Auction Barn; and owned and operated his own farm, raising crops and Herford cattle. He was an avid coon, fox, deer, and turkey hunter. He will be greatly missed by his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Doris of Shawneetown; four children, Melissa (Bryan) Harris of Cape Girardeau, Weldon (Laura) Saupe of Jackson, Kevin Saupe of Jackson, and Wayne (Natalie) Saupe of Jackson; nine grandchildren, Emily and Elsie Harris, Blake and Jake Saupe, Jacob and Levi Shelton, Lily Saupe, Kendall and Flynn Saupe; a sister, Doris (Mel) Schmidt of Cape Girardeau; and a brother-in-law, Cecil Turner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marilyn Turner and Charlotte Hecht; and a brother-in-law, Bob Hecht.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, March 5, 2018, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 9:30 a.m. to service time, Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Shawneetown.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the church, with the Rev. Virgil Kelm officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with military honors.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church or the donor's choice of church or charity.
