Godfrey J. "Fred" Stier, of Jackson, passed away at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, on Sunday, September 14, 2025, his 93rd birthday, which signified that he completed his mission in life.
He was born September 14, 1932, in Maryland Heights, Missouri, to Godfrey and Irma Keller Stier. He honorably served in the U.S. Army from December 29, 1954, to September 28, 1956. He and Irene Belohradsky were married October 27, 1956, in St. Louis. Their union was blessed with six children.
Fred embarked on his career in the early 50’s, but paused his career for his military service. After 1956, he worked as the plant manager at several motor companies in the Midwest and Southern states, retiring in 1993.
Fred really enjoyed raising his family and watching them grow. He also liked to fish, hunt, golf, and play pool with his sons and friends.
He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Paris, Tennessee, and attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Paris.
Loving survivors include his wife of nearly 69 years, Irene Stier of Jackson; children, Nancy Hodgson (Ken Hall) of Marietta, Georgia; Patricia (Rex) Meyr of Jackson; Katherine (Wade) Rhodes of Jackson; Fred A. Stier of Paris, Tennessee; Jeffrey (Kim) Stier of Franklin, Tennessee; and Timothy (late Maria) Stier of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; grandchildren, John (Erin) Hodgson; Eric (Trina) Hodgson; Rex Allen (Monica) Meyr; Rachael Meyr; Anton Rhodes; Katherine Rhodes; Jessica (Brandon) French; Jordan (Trey) Parker; Brittany (John) Bishop; Isabella and Sophia Stier; great-grandchildren, John O., Charlotte, and Margaret Hodgson, Tripp and Ladd Meyr, Chip and Nash Parker, Connor and Rhett French, Eleanor and Jamison Bishop.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and an aunt, Rose Keller.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to service time, Saturday, September 20, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The Rev. Randolph Tochtrop will conduct the funeral service at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 20th, at the funeral home. Interment and military honors will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
