Herbert Earl Sanders

Herbert "Herb" Earl Sanders, formerly of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the age of 94, in Jackson, Missouri. Born on Thursday, June 18, 1931, in Baden, Missouri, Herb lived a life marked by his service to his community and dedication to his family.

Herb spent his full career as a devoted firefighter, bravely serving and protecting his community. He also owned and operated R&R Awning Company with his loving wife, Lois. Herb had a passion for antiques and was an avid collector for 69 years.

Herb was preceded in death by his beloved parents, August Henry and Emma (Kraichley) Sanders and a brother, Milton August. To cherish his memory, he leaves his beloved wife of 71 years, Lois (Owen) Sanders; sons, Bill (Maryna) Sanders; Jim (Stacia) Sanders; and daughter, Nancy Harrison. He was blessed with his cherished grandchildren: Steven, Billy, Wesley, Alicia, Jameson, Daniel, and Matthew, and his step-grandchildren, Aaron and Kimberly; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Final arrangements are entrusted to McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center. A Celebration of Life to honor Herb’s legacy will be held in the early spring at the First General Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a charitable donation be made to the First General Baptist Church at 1812 Cape Lacroix Rd, Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
