Holly Jean Drum peacefully passed away on March 27, 2022.
She was born October 19, 1967, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Calvin Cleveland and Dorothy Bangert Phillips. She was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson.
Holly grew up in Jackson, Missouri. She and Ralph Drum, Jr. were married May 18, 1991, and they celebrated 30 years of joyful marriage.
Holly graduated from Jackson High School in 1986 and received her bachelor’s degree in 1991 from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. She applied her education and recreation therapy skills at Southeast Hospital and Saint Francis Medical Center.
Holly loved family, the outdoors, fishing, and she particularly had a love for horses, cats, and dogs. She furthered her love of family and the outdoors by participating in the Girl Scouts, later serving as a troop leader. She was passionate about supporting the Jackson High School Cross Country team.
She is survived by her husband Ralph Drum, Jr. and two daughters, Ashley (Paul) Ragsdale of Parks Hills, Missouri and Chelsea Drum of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; her mother Dorothy Phillips of Jackson; two sisters, Judy (Dale) Snyder of Jackson and Cindy Phillips of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; her mother-in-law, Rose Drum of Friedheim, Missouri; and two sisters-in-law, Rosemary Kincy of Jackson, and Karen (Scott) Young of St. Peters, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her father, Calvin Phillips, and her father-in-law, Ralph Drum, Sr.
Holly set an example of faith and courage to her family and friends as she dealt with Glioblastoma brain cancer since November of 2015. The family thanks the staff at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington University, and St. Francis Medical Center for their loving care.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2022, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The service is at 10 a.m., Friday, April 1, 2022, at the funeral home, with Charley Mangels officiating. Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
