Ira B. Dykes., 97, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, where he resided the past five years.
He was born August 25, 1920 in Oklahoma. He and Ruby Eskew were married November 14, 1942. They had been married 64 years when Ruby passed away February 3, 2007.
Ira was a private in the U.S. Army, serving honorably from September 2, 1942 to June 20, 1943.
The Dykes family resided many years in California, where Ira worked in retail auto sales. He served over 50 years as a deacon at the Church of God of Prophecy in El Sobrante, California. He was currently a member of the congregation in Delta, Missouri.
Loving survivors include three children, Roger Dykes and Pamela Powell of Jackson, and Carol Ann Gay of Roseville, California; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, William Chester McFarland III.
Burial was private at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
